Spreading Healthy Love

When applying for a LLL grant, nineteen year old Olive told us, “In developing countries like Liberia, the access to sanitary pads for women and girls are limited and expensive. As the result, during their menstrual cycle, girls stay out of school. This then leads to academic underachievement and possibly drop out. The provision of sanitary pads to high school girls improves not just their health but education outcomes.” In honor of World Menstrual Hygiene Day, 300 girls from six different schools were educated about their cycles and were provided sanitary pads. According to her application, “we intend to negotiate with the administration of these participating schools to ensure that a box with sanitary pads be placed on campus that students can have easy access to freely.”

Thank you, Olive, for partnering with us and educating us about this most basic need.
