Christmas Gifts for Home Safe Residents

December had us partnering with the GFWC (Greater West Palm Beach Women’s Club) and the students from Palm Beach Day Academy’s Service Learning Program. GFWC applied for a $900 LLL grant and the students sold candy canes at their school and raised over $1000! The two groups worked together to “adopt” 11 girls living in the Libra House at Home Safe, which is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting children who have experienced abuse and domestic violence. The project goal was to make Christmas special for the girls and remind them that they are loved and cared for.
The girls from Home Safe wrote Christmas wish lists and the elves got to work meeting every request: clothing, bras, underwear, MP3 players, over-the-door basketball kits, art supplies, teddy bears, hats. In addition to filling stockings and bags for the girls, the elves also made a $500 donation for the staff who care for the girls at Home Safe.
Thank you GFWC for letting us partner with you again as you spread Christmas cheer and remind the girls at Home Safe that they are loved and that there is care, compassion, and kindness in this world.
